Pardon Me...

The President seems to be starting a Pardon binge right now.  Is it because he is looking into these previous verdicts and sentences and finding them unfair, or is it because he is trying to do something far worse?

You see, one of the fears the President has right now, speculatively of course, is that there are people being investigated right now he is scared will flip and begin working for the Special Counsel or other law enforcement agencies.  If they do that, information the President doesn't want to come to light may end up ruining him.  Additionally, there are individuals who have already been indicted for crimes committed.

One possibility for the pardons Trump is granting and talking about granting could be that he wants to send a message to those people out there who are under investigation to tell them, "It's ok, go down for what they have you on, don't flip, and I will pardon you."  It is a tactic just one step further down the road from the smear campaign he and his cronies are currently using to attempt to discredit the Mueller Investigation, the Cohen Investigation, and the Department of Justice.

This campaign is fueled by outright lies and falsehoods, and is being enacted by the President, Rudy his right hand man and lawyer, and the far right constituent entertainment news personalities like Hannity.  They have continued to drive the SPY GATE narrative even though it was a ridiculous notion to begin with, and even though it has been proven to be false with evidence presented to the Gang of Eight.  Even though it isn't true, they continue to drive that narrative because many in Trump's base are locked in on it as fact.  Many in Trump's base feel Trump is the victim of a deep state conspiracy against him, even though that deep state conspiracy was fabricated by none other than Trump himself.

As I have stated in a previous blog, Trump believes the more often he tells a lie or falsehood, the more believable it will become.  Trump believes that by preaching the 'Fake News' narrative religiously from day one allows him to discredit the media organizations that run stories about him that are less than positive (although true).  Fake News is a term Trump has been attaching to all negative news published about him and his administration.  As stated in a previous blog, he isn't doing this because he feels the news is fake or untrue; he is doing this because he knows the news is true and he wants to discredit it so he doesn't look as bad.  He has shared that approach with a member of the news media in the past...however ironic that may sound.

My hope at this point is that enough Americans are seeing through this fog of lies Trump and his cronies are creating and will make good, informed decisions when it comes to the Mid-Term elections later this year.  Most importantly, Investigations aside, looking ahead to 2020 is vitally important right now for voters.  Now, by saying what I just said is in no way me saying to vote Straight Ticket for Democrats.  That is not at all what I mean.  What I think is the true answer to turning our current debacle in Washington around is to send a message to politicians that if they don't do their damn jobs and stand up for their constituents.....and that would be us and not big businesses and special interest groups....that we will use our power as voters to oust them from their perches.

We have politicians who have spent entire multi-decade long careers in Washington but have accomplished nothing.  They are continually voted in because of name recognition and it needs to stop.  It needs to stop at the State level and at the Federal level.  Voters need to vote out the incumbents who are lifers and who have not been doing their jobs.  Voters need to oust the career politicians and send a broad message to everyone in politics that we are done being taken advantage of.

If you have read anything I have ever posted you surely know that I am not a fan of our current President.  I believe him to be a lying, xenophobic, racist, bigot who happens to also be a narcissist.  Believe what you want, but there is ample proof in the world now to back up the claims I just made, and the thought of him winning a second term is terrifying.

Having said that, my comments on what voters need to do in the coming elections are important because it isn't just the President that is leading us into a complete meltdown as a nation.  It is Congress.  This is a large group of politicians who have done nothing to put the President in check, or to accomplish the most important things we need accomplished for our nation's people.  The Republicans had many years to come up with a suitable replacement for Obamacare, a system they said was broken.  When the day came, they had nothing.  I'm not saying they had nothing good.  They literally had nothing.

We get tax reform that is top heavy and rich friendly and has sunset clauses attached to the tax breaks for the middle class  citizens.  Additionally, it is a tax plan that is in the Red about 1.5 Trillion Dollars unless unfounded forecasts made by flipping a coin come true.  So many positive things could have been accomplished over this last year, but instead we have two groups of people unwilling to work with one-another and who argue like 1st Graders on the playground.  The answer to what this country needs is not found on the Right or the Left exclusively.  Until we come together, work together toward common middle ground, and our legislators do the jobs they were elected to do, we are screwed, regardless of the President we have.

It is disheartening, disgusting, needs to change, and we are where that change can occur.  We, the voters, can make any change we want to.  So vote out the worthless incumbents who haven't done their jobs, and vote in candidates who aren't already corrupted by our political system in America. Send a message to politicians that says, "If you don't work for us and the betterment of this country, you are out!"  We are 320 Million strong, and we need to use our voice.  When elections occur, we need to come out in masses and vote.  The voter turnout in our country, especially during mid-term elections, is abysmal.  Use your power!

Now, back to Pardons.  I may have veered a bit off track there.  If Trump is indeed using the Pardon process to send a message to those out there who have dirt on him and can bring his world crashing down, it is just another thing to add to the list of horrible things this man has done and continues to do.  It sickens me, and I hope that it sickens most everyone, because this country is a laughing stock right now.  This Administration has single handedly ruined more programs and international relationships than ever before, and it keeps happening.

Trump and his Administration say that the media (Fake News) never covers their accomplishments.  They actually do, it is just that the controversies that Trump continues to be a part of drown out that coverage.  If Trump would stand up, do the right thing as a President (that would be to be Presidential), treat people with respect, treat other countries with respect, and work hard to improve the lives of Americans and the standing of our Great Nation, all the while remaining an ally with the other great nations, there would cease to be negative press about Trump.

But instead, we watch the Trump show every day; tweeting like a pissed off middle-school boy, denigrating everyone who opposes him, and acting as far from Presidential as humanly possible.

Mr. President, please stop.

Trump and the DOJ Trying to Silence Mueller...

Mueller is set to sit in front of Congress on Wednesday this week and answer questions regarding the Mueller Investigation.  The DOJ, and organization that is supposed to look out for the best interests of America but has recently decided to become Trump's personal Law Firm, has sent correspondence to Mueller about what he can and cannot answer. For instance, you have the question of the 10 documented cases of obstruction in volume 2 of the report.  Mueller made it clear that he was bound by DOJ policy and could not indict a sitting president.  One very important question the Congressional Leadership will likely ask is, "If Donald Trump wasn't the sitting President, would you have indicted him based on the amount of evidence in the report?"  That question in every respect is fair.  You are asking the head of an investigation if they would have indicted someone had an arbitrary roadblock not been in place.  I say arbitrary roadblock because the policy is...

Let's talk about kids

So here we are, waiting patiently and watching what the government is doing to reunite children with their parents who have been separated at the border.  The government said all it would take was a few key strokes and they could immediately identify which children were where and get them reunited.  Interesting comment considering that we are now past the court mandated timeframe within which the government was mandated by the court to reunite the 102 children under the age of 5 with their parents.  They had a month to do it, and only managed to reunite around 54 children by the deadline.  They have resorted to taking DNA samples from children and parents to try to match them up in a database because the process they used to separate these children from their parents didn't take into consideration the reunification process, so in most cases they have no idea which children match up to which parents. Instead of the President taking a more compassionate approach to...

Technology, the Double Edged Sword

Technology is an amazing thing isn't it?  Look at the evolution of the computer.  Below I am providing a history of the evolution of the computer.  It is not all-inclusive, but does document some very important moments in history starting in 1801 and ending in 2017.  If you aren't a huge reader, you can jump past the history lesson to the remainder of my blog below, but it is very interesting and I recommend you read through it.  In France in 1801, Joseph Marie Jacquard invented a loom that used punched wooden cards to automatically weave fabric designs.  Early computers would use similar punch cards. In 1822, an English Mathematician named Charles Babbage conceived of a steam-driven calculating machine that would be able to compute tables of numbers.  The project was funded by the English government and was a failure.  More than a century later, however, the first computer was actually built in the world. In 1890, Herman Hollerith designed ...
