Scott Pruitt, a name many didn't know until he was appointed by President Trump to head up the Environmental Protection Agency, is someone who happens to be slightly surrounded by some strange controversy. I will start out by saying that Donald Trump commended Scott yesterday on the fine job the EPA and Scott are doing these days. Now, before I make my point, I would like to outline a partial list of the federal investigations Scott Pruitt is caught up in at the moment:
Lobbyist and Pruitt Struck a Personal Housing Deal- Scott Pruitt didn't understand why it was controversial that he struck a deal with a lobbyist to rent a bedroom near Capital Hill from the lobbyist for $50 a night. Apparently Mr. Pruitt hasn't taken many ethics courses in his adult life.
The American Public has spent over $3 Million Dollars to protect the EPA Administrator- Scott Pruitt's security detail is at least 3 times larger than his predecessor's was. He requested this size detail on day one of the job.
Use of security detail for personal trips - Pruitt has used his security detail for personal trips, in addition to the overuse and overspending on security for work.
The American Public gets to pay for Pruitt to fly First Class - Pruitt spent over $105 Thousand Dollars on First-Class flights on the public's dime in 2017 because, he says, of threats to his safety.
Pruitt circumvented the White House to give large raises to aides - Scott Pruitt reportedly ordered two of his aides to get substantial raises, even though the White House rejected his request. When questioned about the raises, he said that he was unaware and had just found out about it the day before, and had fixed the issue. I am sure that's how it worked.
Chik-Fil-A franchise request for wife - Scott is also under investigation for trying to use his stature within the US Government to attempt to help his wife garner a Chik-Fil-A franchise for his family's personal gain. Nothing wrong with that at all, right?
Making his aide do personal tasks - Scott Pruitt's director of scheduling reportedly claims that Scott asked her to perform personal tasks, to include trying to request a Trump Hotel mattress for personal use, and looking at potential personal properties for Pruitt. This all occurred during business hours while the director of scheduling was on the clock, working for a government salary and being paid by the American Public.
$43 Thousand Dollar sound-proof office phone booth - Yes, the EPA is an organization that apparently requires top secret communications protocols because Scott Pruitt found it necessary to spend what is equivalent to a good year's salary for an American in the Middle Class on a sound proof phone booth where he can have all of his top secret world domination phone calls that must happen in the EPA.
$1,500 Dollar set of 12 fountain pens - Apparently the office needed 12 REALLY NICE fountain pens paid for by the American Public. You will be happy to know that the journals Pruitt's office purchased only cost them $1,600 Dollars...a steal....from the American Public...
$5,700 Dollars for biometric locks on his office doors - Apparently good locks, building security, and personal security details aren't enough. You also need almost 6 thousand dollars in biometric office locks for your personal office.
Using flashing lights for his motorcade - Pruitt has a tendency to use the flashing lights and sirens on his motorcade to get through traffic in Washington on a regular basis, including one notable time when he was going to the French Restaurant, Le Diplomate. That was obviously a very important restaurant trip.
Lobbyist-aided setting up trip to Morocco - A former Lobbyist for Comcast helped the EPA set up a trip to Morocco, which cost $100 Thousand Dollars, and was originally reported would cost $40 Thousand Dollars.
Seats at college basketball game from coal billionaire - Pruitt took seats for a University of Kentucky basketball game for him and his son from a billionaire coal executive.
Wow, there really aren't words to describe how corrupt this one person in Trump's Administration is. This is all over the past year. There are reportedly 12 total Federal Investigations into Scott Pruitt at this time. Trump, however, stands behind the great job Scott Pruitt is doing at the EPA.
Since Pruitt took the position with the EPA, over 700 people have quit their positions. The policy decisions Pruitt has made and is making are detrimental to our country's environment, and put the profitability of industry above the value of human health. In simple terms, Scott Pruitt is 100% for the slow dismantling of all environmental policy progress over the past many years and for setting policy that makes it easier for businesses to make money, regardless of the environmental impact. That's the simple statement.
Here is my question. How in the hell is this man still holding his position at the EPA? How has he not been stripped of his position amidst all of the outwardly ridiculous things I mentioned above? How is it that with all of this information the President finds it necessary to commend Scott on a job well done yesterday? This is ridiculous to say the least, unethical to state partial fact, and inhuman if I'm being totally truthful.
