Unity in spite of differences is the way to win...

I have watched the splintering of the Democratic Party over the past couple of years, and it is very concerning.  The party has broken into smaller pieces and the infighting has become far more prevalent since the November, 2018, Elections.  What we are seeing at this point are viewpoints of essentially 3 generations of leaders coming to a head, and an unwillingness for any of them to work together toward a common goal.

Look at the Republican Party right now.  Do you think Evangelicals truly love Trump?  Heck no they don't.  Trump's words and actions go against nearly everything those Evangelicals believe in, but they show their full support because he will push for the policy positions they believe in, like in the case of abortion.  They love that McConnell is loading the courts with Judges who may just try to overturn historic abortion law, and hold judicial power for nearly a generation moving forward; even if the right loses power.

Do you think the Republicans in the Senate and House love Trump?  Most of them hate Trump with a passion and know that he is doing horrible things for this nation.  They stick beside him, however, because they feel that if they stand up against him it will destroy their reelection possibilities in 2020 and beyond.  That's right, it isn't about what is best for the country or for the inhabitants of America.  It is about what is best for the congressional members, and the corporations and special interest groups that provide them ample funds.

Even though the country is in a horrible place right now and on the brink of a recession, the Republicans stand by Trump in the hope they will remain in power after the 2020 Election.  If party politics didn't exist and individuals were making their own decisions, Trump would have little to no support from congress and would likely have been impeached long ago. Unfortunately that isn't the case.

Now, back to the Democrats.  There is infighting between the veteran leadership of the party and the new members of congress.  There is infighting between those on the far left and those who are more center left.  The party seems to be splintered into multiple contingents that refuse to work together toward one common goal; winning in 2020.

The key to securing a stable future for America is to gain power of both houses of congress while at the same time electing the person who ends up becoming the nominee who goes up against Trump.  It doesn't matter who that nominee is, because there isn't one person on the ballot at this point who I wouldn't vote for over Trump.

Americans on the left, Independents, and Republicans who are sick and tired of what is going on, all need to come together with one common goal and stop fighting each other and giving Trump the ammunition he will use against the eventual nominee.  Trump will lie, name call, denigrate, and do everything except for talk policy.  The nominee needs to be a strong debater who will get into Trump's face and demand the facts, demand sources and statistics, and have a factual counter punch to every lie Trump tells during the ramp up to the election.  Right now there are only a couple of people I would trust to do just that who have a chance of becoming the eventual nominee....after we sort through the ridiculous amount of people running on the left.

Stand together and unite around a common goal.  Don't separate yourself from your own party.  Ideas may be different, but the focus needs to be on the necessary items such as Health Care, The Environment (Climate Change and the dismantling of the EPA that has occurred over the past 2+ years), the Economy and Debt, Living Wages, etc.  Along with all of that comes a retort for every lie and misdirected falsehood thrown out by the President.  He will keep lying, so we need someone to keep fact checking him into oblivion.

His die hard base will never waver, but he needs far more than his base to win.  Speak truth and be clear.  Speak policy and not just talking points.  Provide the Why and the How in your answers.  This needs to happen BECAUSE (Facts about WHY), and we are going to accomplish this BY (Facts about the How).  There needs to be solid policy established, and it needs to be something Democrats from every generation will come together on and stand behind.

Get to the polls every time there is a vote, and do it in record numbers...or Trump will win and keep control of the Senate.

Trump and the DOJ Trying to Silence Mueller...

Mueller is set to sit in front of Congress on Wednesday this week and answer questions regarding the Mueller Investigation.  The DOJ, and organization that is supposed to look out for the best interests of America but has recently decided to become Trump's personal Law Firm, has sent correspondence to Mueller about what he can and cannot answer. For instance, you have the question of the 10 documented cases of obstruction in volume 2 of the report.  Mueller made it clear that he was bound by DOJ policy and could not indict a sitting president.  One very important question the Congressional Leadership will likely ask is, "If Donald Trump wasn't the sitting President, would you have indicted him based on the amount of evidence in the report?"  That question in every respect is fair.  You are asking the head of an investigation if they would have indicted someone had an arbitrary roadblock not been in place.  I say arbitrary roadblock because the policy is...

Electoral College

I have seen a ton of talk about the Electoral College in recent months.  The majority of Americans feel that going to a Direct Popular Vote like the rest of the world is the way to go.  Those on the Right seem to be completely against abolishing the Electoral College.  The question is why? The most common argument given is that we shouldn't let voters in all the big cities decide who is in office for the entire country, and that with Direct Popular Vote, those people who live in rural communities also get a say.  When you break down that argument, you quickly find all the holes that exist within it.  Let's start by talking about one other thing that is completely unfair in our current political system.  Let's look at the Senate. In the Senate, each State elects 2 Senators to go to Congress in Washington D.C.  Sounds fair right? Let's look at the most populous states and least populous states and how many people in each state Senators repres...

Dictators are Great! and other scary as hell things.

Most people weren't very happy with President Xi Jinping of China passing legislation for the ability of the President to rule indefinitely, but Donald Trump seemed to love it.  Donald Trump said, "He's now president for life.  President for life.  No, He's great, and look, he was able to do that.  I think it's great.  Maybe we'll have to give that a show some day." In July of 2016, Trump said of Saddam Hussein about killing terrorists, "He did that so good.  They didn't read them the rights.  They didn't talk.  They were terrorists. Over."  Granted, Trump did label him a bad guy as well, but had more good than bad to say about the former Ruler of Iraq.  Trump also said in 2016 that Libya would be better off, "if Moammar Giddafi were in charge right now."  Trump said that China, when they brutally cracked down on protesters in Tiananmen Square in 1989, "shows you the power of strength,"  He was using that as an e...
