Our current state of events....

Trump Tweet 10/29/18 - "There is great anger in our Country caused in part by inaccurate, and even fraudulent, reporting of the news.  The Fake News Media, the true Enemy of the People, must stop the open & obvious hostility & report the news accurately & fairly.  That will do much to put out the flame..."

"...of Anger and Outrage and we will then be able to bring all sides together in Peace and Harmony.  Fake News Must End!"

Trump Tweet 10/28/18 - "The Fake News is doing everything in their power to blame Republicans, Conservatives and me for the division and hatred that has been going on for so long in our Country.  Actually, it is their Fake & Dishonest reporting which is causing problems far greater than they understand!"

So I wanted to start this blog with a message from the President.  As you can see, the President has an interesting perception of the Free Press. Since Just July of this year, the President has called the Press in the United States, "The Enemy of the People", 11 times.

If we look at the events that took place last week in the United States, it is pretty clear especially in the case of the bomber, that the inspiration for his actions came from the denigrating tweets and speeches the President has made over the past 2 years.  Every bomb target was someone who the President has had horrible things to say about again and again.  Yet, in the aftermath of it all once the alleged bomber had been taken into custody, Trump didn't claim any blame for inciting the violence.

Trump has continually supported violence, celebrating a reporter getting body slammed, and offering to pay the legal fees of someone who would cause physical harm to another.  These are things that have been front and center approaches for Trump over the past 2 years.  He denigrates others, speaks down of those who oppose him, calls the Press the enemy of the people because they publish the truth about him, and speaks highly of Fox and Friends because he has them in his back pocket.  They are great in his eyes because they publish the news that makes him look good.  To hell with all of the other media in Trump's eyes though.

Do you know what type of leader takes that approach outside of the United States?  Autocrats do, Dictators do, Horrible People do.  Trump has made it clear that he wants to control the media and what is published about him, which is why he started this ridiculous narrative that the media is evil and the enemy of the people.  Trump wants to be in control of the Intelligence Community.  Trump wants to be an Autocrat.  Everything he says and does on a regular basis over time aims directly as that as his ultimate goal.

The amount of lies trump is telling on a regular basis is going up, and that is by design.  If you look at the talking points lately, they are concentrated on winning the mid-term elections.  First, Trump boasted about a new tax cut that would go through for the middle class before November that they had been working on....problem is that was completely and utterly untrue.  Congress isn't even in session until after the November 6th mid-term elections, and there is no tax cut.

Pre-existing conditions is something you may be hearing and seeing a lot about recently.  Trump Tweeted 5 days ago, "Republicans will totally protect people with Pre-Existing Conditions, Democrats will not!  Vote Republican."  That's an interesting claim considering the Republicans have tried to end the Affordable Care Act 70 times, which includes protections for Pre-Existing Conditions.  The Democrats are the party that has fought tooth and nail to keep Pre-Existing Conditions Clauses to ensure people cannot be refused healthcare based on their Pre-Existing Conditions.  The Republicans have repeatedly tried to end the protections for Pre-Existing Conditions, and yet the President lies in a Tweet, and several Republicans running for re-election in the United States say very clearly in their ads that they have and always will fight for protections for those with Pre-Existing Conditions.  Absolute Bull Shit!

Why are they doing this?  Well, it turns out after a poll was conducted, it showed that the number one issue people really care about right now is healthcare, and the ACA is more popular than it was years prior.  That and the Republicans had chance after chance to come up with something better (many years) and couldn't come up with anything.  So now they are falsely running on democratic principals with no plan to actually live up to those principals should they win next week.

Lie after Lie is designed to aim at and change the minds of those voters in the middle who aren't quite sure which direction to vote.  People need to get out and educate themselves on the issues and look at the true and historical platform positions for all candidates running in their state and federal races.  We have 1 Week, 1 WEEK, to take our country back.  I will not tell you today to vote blue, but I will tell you today to educate yourself and vote.

Your vote matters, whether you think it does or not.  Get out there next Tuesday and cast your ballot.  I will surely be casting mine, and unlike most past elections where I have split choices down party lines depending upon the candidates I liked the most, my ballot will be looking more like a #BlueWave this year.

Vote because it matters!

Trump and the DOJ Trying to Silence Mueller...

Mueller is set to sit in front of Congress on Wednesday this week and answer questions regarding the Mueller Investigation.  The DOJ, and organization that is supposed to look out for the best interests of America but has recently decided to become Trump's personal Law Firm, has sent correspondence to Mueller about what he can and cannot answer. For instance, you have the question of the 10 documented cases of obstruction in volume 2 of the report.  Mueller made it clear that he was bound by DOJ policy and could not indict a sitting president.  One very important question the Congressional Leadership will likely ask is, "If Donald Trump wasn't the sitting President, would you have indicted him based on the amount of evidence in the report?"  That question in every respect is fair.  You are asking the head of an investigation if they would have indicted someone had an arbitrary roadblock not been in place.  I say arbitrary roadblock because the policy is...

Let's talk about kids

So here we are, waiting patiently and watching what the government is doing to reunite children with their parents who have been separated at the border.  The government said all it would take was a few key strokes and they could immediately identify which children were where and get them reunited.  Interesting comment considering that we are now past the court mandated timeframe within which the government was mandated by the court to reunite the 102 children under the age of 5 with their parents.  They had a month to do it, and only managed to reunite around 54 children by the deadline.  They have resorted to taking DNA samples from children and parents to try to match them up in a database because the process they used to separate these children from their parents didn't take into consideration the reunification process, so in most cases they have no idea which children match up to which parents. Instead of the President taking a more compassionate approach to...

Technology, the Double Edged Sword

Technology is an amazing thing isn't it?  Look at the evolution of the computer.  Below I am providing a history of the evolution of the computer.  It is not all-inclusive, but does document some very important moments in history starting in 1801 and ending in 2017.  If you aren't a huge reader, you can jump past the history lesson to the remainder of my blog below, but it is very interesting and I recommend you read through it.  In France in 1801, Joseph Marie Jacquard invented a loom that used punched wooden cards to automatically weave fabric designs.  Early computers would use similar punch cards. In 1822, an English Mathematician named Charles Babbage conceived of a steam-driven calculating machine that would be able to compute tables of numbers.  The project was funded by the English government and was a failure.  More than a century later, however, the first computer was actually built in the world. In 1890, Herman Hollerith designed ...
