Have You Ever?

I wanted to write about something a bit less heavy in nature for this Blog since the last few have been fairly heavy subjects.

Have you ever been by yourself or with someone and had a thought that you knew at the very moment it showed up in your head was going to be life changing?  It was so clear in that instant that your life was about to change for the better because of this amazing idea that just blessed your mind with its presence.  For a few moments you were on top of the world; overjoyed at the idea of where this thought was going to take you...and then a moment went by...just a few seconds....and every memory of that thought disappeared, leaving no trace of the original idea that graced your mind.

No matter how hard you tried to recall the thought it was to no avail.  Yup, it has happened to me on three separate occasions in life.  Once when I was 16 years old driving in a car around town, once when I was living in Boston and sitting at a coffee shop outside watching people go by, and once while I was deployed to Iraq for the War in 2003.  I cannot tell you what the thoughts were, but I can tell you that at those three very specific moments in my past, I was blessed with thoughts that came out of nowhere and opened my eyes to possibilities for an amazing and successful future.

I doubt that I am the only one this has happened to, which is why I decided to write about my experiences and provide my thoughts about why the memories came, and then immediately went; never to be thought of again.

You see, I believe that everyone on Earth is born into the world with something extraordinary to offer.  Some people go through life and never find a way to tap into the extraordinary, but some, a much smaller percentage of the populous, find ways to bring talents to the forefront of their lives and benefit from those talents.

Look at the innovations we have seen in this world over the centuries.  Beautiful minds have discovered and created some of the most amazing things in the world.  Many of these beautiful minds have done so without higher education playing a role.  In many cases, ideas just came to the minds of individuals and they were able to harness those ideas and turn them into reality.

Look at savant syndrome.  Here we have a group of individuals who have serious mental disabilities, including autism, but who for some unexplained reason have extraordinary talents in different areas that always center around massive amounts of memory.  Some are able to solve nearly impossible mathematical equations in a matter of seconds, even though the best mathematicians would take hours, days or longer to solve the same equations.  These savants are able to make these calculations like computers in their minds with absolutely no mathematical training what-so-ever.

Some savants are able to play musical instruments at the mastery level having just picked them up for the first time.  Some have memories that allow them to recall any information they have ever seen with their eyes as if it is in front of them, to include word for word recall of books.

It is something they really haven't been able to explain to this day, but it occurs more often than most people think.  Almost 1 in every 10 autistic people have some sort of savant ability; some more pronounced than others.  I feel that for the those who have severe mental disabilities that in many cases lead to individuals having very childlike minds, it becomes easier for those people to draw on their natural talents because there is less 'static' blocking their recall.  In many cases, these individuals live a more internalized life, trapped inside of their own brains, rather than outward lives being influenced by everything around them.  For some reason those with savant syndrome have a greater likeliness of drawing out their talents.

Einstein, Aristotle, Archimedes, Galileo, Faraday, Edison, Sklodowska, Pasteur, Newton, and Tesla are just a handful of the personalities throughout World History who have had extraordinary impact on the world in some way.  Their insights and abilities transcended general human expectations in a way that is really unexplainable.  No one should really have, based on what we know about the mind, abilities and knowledge to the level some of these people had in a seemingly natural way; unlearned and just innate as opposed to learned and internalized.

Now back to my thoughts.  So I found myself in these three very specific scenarios.  I was alone each time it happened, and each time it happened I remember feeling a tingling rush run through me, sort of like that feeling you get when you listen to a piece of beautiful music that touches you emotionally, or that feeling you get when you meet the love of your life for the first time.  That rush came over me and along with it came an epiphany that was so clear to me.  The thoughts were going to lead to my life changing drastically in a very positive way.  I was not thinking of anything specific when these thoughts occurred, and there was nothing that occurred after that should have spurred me to forget these thoughts, but ultimately, it was almost like waking up from an amazing dream where for a few moments you remember every detail of what was going on, and then its just gone.

I know there is something inside of me that is meant to make this world a better place and that will improve my life drastically, but to this day I cannot bring it back to the forefront of my memory.  I am interested in hearing what your experiences with anything similar to this are.  Please comment on this Blog with your stories.

Trump and the DOJ Trying to Silence Mueller...

Mueller is set to sit in front of Congress on Wednesday this week and answer questions regarding the Mueller Investigation.  The DOJ, and organization that is supposed to look out for the best interests of America but has recently decided to become Trump's personal Law Firm, has sent correspondence to Mueller about what he can and cannot answer. For instance, you have the question of the 10 documented cases of obstruction in volume 2 of the report.  Mueller made it clear that he was bound by DOJ policy and could not indict a sitting president.  One very important question the Congressional Leadership will likely ask is, "If Donald Trump wasn't the sitting President, would you have indicted him based on the amount of evidence in the report?"  That question in every respect is fair.  You are asking the head of an investigation if they would have indicted someone had an arbitrary roadblock not been in place.  I say arbitrary roadblock because the policy is...

Let's talk about kids

So here we are, waiting patiently and watching what the government is doing to reunite children with their parents who have been separated at the border.  The government said all it would take was a few key strokes and they could immediately identify which children were where and get them reunited.  Interesting comment considering that we are now past the court mandated timeframe within which the government was mandated by the court to reunite the 102 children under the age of 5 with their parents.  They had a month to do it, and only managed to reunite around 54 children by the deadline.  They have resorted to taking DNA samples from children and parents to try to match them up in a database because the process they used to separate these children from their parents didn't take into consideration the reunification process, so in most cases they have no idea which children match up to which parents. Instead of the President taking a more compassionate approach to...

Technology, the Double Edged Sword

Technology is an amazing thing isn't it?  Look at the evolution of the computer.  Below I am providing a history of the evolution of the computer.  It is not all-inclusive, but does document some very important moments in history starting in 1801 and ending in 2017.  If you aren't a huge reader, you can jump past the history lesson to the remainder of my blog below, but it is very interesting and I recommend you read through it.  In France in 1801, Joseph Marie Jacquard invented a loom that used punched wooden cards to automatically weave fabric designs.  Early computers would use similar punch cards. In 1822, an English Mathematician named Charles Babbage conceived of a steam-driven calculating machine that would be able to compute tables of numbers.  The project was funded by the English government and was a failure.  More than a century later, however, the first computer was actually built in the world. In 1890, Herman Hollerith designed ...
