Let's give Discredit where Discredit is not due...

So for over a year now, the Robert Mueller Investigation has continued on, looking into Russian Influences in the 2016 election, and ties that members of the Trump Administration and Trump Campaign had with Russia.

The President Tweeted on May 17th of this year, "Congratulations America, we are now into the second year of the greatest Witch Hunt in American History...and there is still No Collusion and No Obstruction.  The only Collusion was that done by Democrats who were unable to win an Election despite the spending of far more money!"  Now, this is just one of countless Tweets Trump has made over time referring to the Mueller Investigation as a Witch Hunt, but I wanted to note this one because I want to discuss below what has actually happened during the first year of the investigation that is being labeled by the President as a Witch Hunt.

George Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to lying to federal investigators on October 5th, 2017.

Michael Flynn, former National Security Advisor, pleaded guilty on December 1st, 2017, to lying to the FBI and has agreed to cooperate fully, truthfully, completely and forthrightly with law enforcement authorities.

Rick Gates, a close associate to Paul Manafort, pleaded guilty in February to lying to investigators and to conspiracy against the United States.

Paul Manafort, Trump's former campaign chairman, has many charges against him.  Additionally, Robert Mueller plans to present evidence at Paul Manafort's trial later in July that links some of the charges against him with his role in President Trump's campaign.  Manafort's bail was revoked last month after a federal judge found allegations of Manafort tampering with witnesses concerning.  Paul Manafort's host of charges include money laundering, witness tampering, making false statements, and others.

In February, Mueller's team levied indictments against 13 Russian individuals and three Russian entities it alleged were involved in various efforts to meddle in the U.S. Election in 2016.  The charges range from conspiracy to identity theft and conspiracy to launder money.

Michael Cohen, long time lawyer and self-proclaimed fixer for Donald Trump, had his office, hotel room and home raided on April 9th, 2018.  well over a million pieces of evidence were seized and many charges are likely to be filed against Mr. Cohen in the near future.  Mr. Cohen has also shown signs recently that he will likely flip for a lesser sentence.  This is speculation, but with the amount of pressure being applied to him, very likely.

Roger Stone has also become an interest to the Mueller Investigation in recent weeks.  Mueller is interested in conversations between Stone and Gates before and during the campaign.

_____________

Ok, so this is just some of the stuff that has come out of the Mueller Investigation over the course of the first year+.  If you look at history, there have been several special investigations starting with Watergate and ending with our current Russia Investigation.  The Trump Administration and those surrounding Trump in protection mode, to include Fox News, have been doing nothing short of lying to the American Public in order to attempt to discredit the Mueller Investigation.  Trump has referred to the Investigation as a Witch Hunt countless times in interviews and Tweets, and every opportunity Trump and his staff get to say something negative about it, they do, even though there are absolutely no facts to back up their claims.

The conspiracy theory that Justice Department inserted "Spies" into the Trump campaign was completely debunked, and yet Trump and his followers still to this day use it as a talking point.  They use terms like "13 Angry Democrats" to talk about Mueller's team in order to show a bias that doesn't exist.  They do everything they can, include lying, to discredit the investigation that is coming ever so close to Trump himself.

Now the legal team for the President is saying the before they will allow the President to sit down and be interviewed by Mueller's team, they need to present facts and evidence showing that the President has committed a crime.  That is not how these things work.  What is really happening is that Trump's legal team is terrified to have him interview because they know he cannot stop himself from habitually lying, under oath or otherwise.  Lying is a way of life for Trump.  His lawyer team has called an interview with Mueller's team a perjury trap.  It is only a perjury trap if Trump lies, and he would most certainly do that, as he does it almost every time he opens his mouth.

They are saying that the investigation is taking too long and should be concluded by now, and that no evidence of anything has been identified.  First, look at what I noted above that has come out of the investigation in just over a year.  That is far from nothing, and it very concerning to say the least.  Second, if you look at the length of previous investigations, Mueller is really ahead of the game here.

Watergate went on for over 4 years, the Michael Deaver Perjury Charges went on for over 3 years, Iran Contra went on for almost 7 years, Lyn Nofziger Improper Lobbying went on for about a year-and-a-half, Samuel Pierce Influence Peddling went on for well over 8 years, Whitewater went on for over 7 years, Mike Espy Gifts went on for over 7 years, Henry Cisneros Perjury Charges went on for over 8 years, Alexis Herman Influence Peddling went on for almost 2 years, Valerie Plame Leaks went on for over 3 years, and the Russia Probe has went on for just over a year at this point.

For as far stretching as this probe has been, the amount of indictments and guilty pleas already obtained during this investigation is astonishing.  There is likely much more to come, and for ANYONE to say this investigation is a Witch Hunt is simply ignorant.

Many of those surrounding Trump have been caught up in this investigation.  The thing we are all waiting to find out is....does the Special Counsel have connections between the indictments that are being handed out and President Trump?  If he does and has evidence to stack up a case against the President, we are looking at another Watergate here.  Time will tell.

My message is simple.  Don't listen to anyone saying that this investigation is a Witch Hunt or that it was started improperly, or that it is run with bias.  It simply isn't.  At the beginning of all of this, Mueller was widely proclaimed to be a very impartial and fair man who puts the facts above all else.  He doesn't allow party affiliation to influence investigation.  As time has gone on, and as indictments are handed out, and as Cohen has become closer and closer to flipping, and as a new lawsuit from New York as come out calling Trump and his children as defendants  in a case about the misuse of the Trump Foundation, the President and all of this followers are trying their hardest to make it seem like the Mueller Investigation is unjust.  No, it's just that the investigation is adding pressure to a Presidency that has been in turmoil for a long time, and the added pressure is affecting Donald Trump in a way that he wants it to go away, but has no real way to make it go away without looking guilty.

No one knows where the Russia Investigation will end.  There may be more indictments or there may not be.  The important thing right now, however, is to let the investigation play itself out in real time, without the President or anyone else talking badly of it or making it sound like something it is not.  Give Mueller his space and let him do his job, so we can....

Give credit where credit is due!

Trump and the DOJ Trying to Silence Mueller...

Mueller is set to sit in front of Congress on Wednesday this week and answer questions regarding the Mueller Investigation.  The DOJ, and organization that is supposed to look out for the best interests of America but has recently decided to become Trump's personal Law Firm, has sent correspondence to Mueller about what he can and cannot answer. For instance, you have the question of the 10 documented cases of obstruction in volume 2 of the report.  Mueller made it clear that he was bound by DOJ policy and could not indict a sitting president.  One very important question the Congressional Leadership will likely ask is, "If Donald Trump wasn't the sitting President, would you have indicted him based on the amount of evidence in the report?"  That question in every respect is fair.  You are asking the head of an investigation if they would have indicted someone had an arbitrary roadblock not been in place.  I say arbitrary roadblock because the policy is...

Let's talk about kids

So here we are, waiting patiently and watching what the government is doing to reunite children with their parents who have been separated at the border.  The government said all it would take was a few key strokes and they could immediately identify which children were where and get them reunited.  Interesting comment considering that we are now past the court mandated timeframe within which the government was mandated by the court to reunite the 102 children under the age of 5 with their parents.  They had a month to do it, and only managed to reunite around 54 children by the deadline.  They have resorted to taking DNA samples from children and parents to try to match them up in a database because the process they used to separate these children from their parents didn't take into consideration the reunification process, so in most cases they have no idea which children match up to which parents. Instead of the President taking a more compassionate approach to...

Technology, the Double Edged Sword

Technology is an amazing thing isn't it?  Look at the evolution of the computer.  Below I am providing a history of the evolution of the computer.  It is not all-inclusive, but does document some very important moments in history starting in 1801 and ending in 2017.  If you aren't a huge reader, you can jump past the history lesson to the remainder of my blog below, but it is very interesting and I recommend you read through it.  In France in 1801, Joseph Marie Jacquard invented a loom that used punched wooden cards to automatically weave fabric designs.  Early computers would use similar punch cards. In 1822, an English Mathematician named Charles Babbage conceived of a steam-driven calculating machine that would be able to compute tables of numbers.  The project was funded by the English government and was a failure.  More than a century later, however, the first computer was actually built in the world. In 1890, Herman Hollerith designed ...
