End the Shutdown Suffering

800,000 federal workers, most of which live paycheck to paycheck, are without pay for a third week in a row now because of the ongoing partial government shutdown.  Museums are closed, trash is overflowing in parks, federal workers are opening gofundme pages to get by, and more.

One federal worker moved to another part of the country to start a federal job just one week before the shutdown, and now faces homelessness if the shutdown doesn't end soon.

A couple, both contractors working for NASA, found themselves out of work due to the shutdown.  They were in the process of adoption but that is on hold now because they cannot afford the Guardian Ad Litem payment the court needs to finalize the adoption.  They also can't throw the birthday/adoption party for the child they wanted to, and have no idea how they are going to pay their mortgage.

A married couple, both out of work due to the shutdown, are at a point they have to pull their children out of day care because they cannot afford it with no pay coming in.  The issue is, if they do pull their children out, they will lose their slots for the children and have to find another daycare once the government starts back up again.

There are thousands of these stories, some less severe than others, but the point of this blog is to show that the President, who continues to say that those government employees who are off work and not getting paid are somehow in support of what he is doing, IS WRONG!  The President is spreading a false narrative, and those of us who find ourselves in the middle class all know that we look forward to one thing every week or two, and that is payday.

Why, because we generally live paycheck to paycheck, or very close to that.  We aren't millionaires and billionaires who can survive without pay coming in.  We need our paychecks to make mortgage payments, car payments, utility payments, childcare payments, buy food, etc.  We need our paychecks to survive, and the fact that Trump is putting words in 800,000 mouths is just flat out wrong.

They could open the government back up today, but he refuses to without funding for his wall.  That campaign promise which is already broken because Mexico is never going to pay for it, is all that Trump cares about at this point.  He doesn't care about people not getting paid and not able to pay their bills.  He cares about Trump.  He also says he can relate to these people...and exactly how is that?

Fact, the government needs to start back up.  Trump needs to drop his ridiculous tantrum and agree on border security improvements that the majority of Americans are for, like additional technology, repair of existing fencing, additional personnel, etc. The majority of Americans do not want the Great Wall of Trump, the Great Steel Slats of Trump, or whatever he wants to call it today.

These are lives of Americans that are being unnecessarily affected in a very negative way because our Commander-in-Chief is throwing a tantrum that all started with Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter calling him out.

The even bigger problem we are facing is an administration of talking heads surrounding the President who will be nothing but "yes" people because all of the people who would ever challenge the President's ridiculous decisions have either resigned or been fired over the past 2 years.  There is no restraining the insanity any longer, and with investigations coming at Trump from 17 different areas, I am greatly concerned as to how he is going to react as indictments occur and his world begins to fall apart even more around him.

For the last 2 years we have seen some insanity during a time when Trump controlled congress as a whole.  Now the Democrats have taken the House and we are in a period where there will be more challenges than ever before in Trump's life, and he isn't used to that at all.  Seeing how he has reacted to this point, I am fearful of how he will react in the coming months as the walls close in on him more and more.

Think about that...

Trump and the DOJ Trying to Silence Mueller...

Mueller is set to sit in front of Congress on Wednesday this week and answer questions regarding the Mueller Investigation.  The DOJ, and organization that is supposed to look out for the best interests of America but has recently decided to become Trump's personal Law Firm, has sent correspondence to Mueller about what he can and cannot answer. For instance, you have the question of the 10 documented cases of obstruction in volume 2 of the report.  Mueller made it clear that he was bound by DOJ policy and could not indict a sitting president.  One very important question the Congressional Leadership will likely ask is, "If Donald Trump wasn't the sitting President, would you have indicted him based on the amount of evidence in the report?"  That question in every respect is fair.  You are asking the head of an investigation if they would have indicted someone had an arbitrary roadblock not been in place.  I say arbitrary roadblock because the policy is...

Let's talk about kids

So here we are, waiting patiently and watching what the government is doing to reunite children with their parents who have been separated at the border.  The government said all it would take was a few key strokes and they could immediately identify which children were where and get them reunited.  Interesting comment considering that we are now past the court mandated timeframe within which the government was mandated by the court to reunite the 102 children under the age of 5 with their parents.  They had a month to do it, and only managed to reunite around 54 children by the deadline.  They have resorted to taking DNA samples from children and parents to try to match them up in a database because the process they used to separate these children from their parents didn't take into consideration the reunification process, so in most cases they have no idea which children match up to which parents. Instead of the President taking a more compassionate approach to...

Technology, the Double Edged Sword

Technology is an amazing thing isn't it?  Look at the evolution of the computer.  Below I am providing a history of the evolution of the computer.  It is not all-inclusive, but does document some very important moments in history starting in 1801 and ending in 2017.  If you aren't a huge reader, you can jump past the history lesson to the remainder of my blog below, but it is very interesting and I recommend you read through it.  In France in 1801, Joseph Marie Jacquard invented a loom that used punched wooden cards to automatically weave fabric designs.  Early computers would use similar punch cards. In 1822, an English Mathematician named Charles Babbage conceived of a steam-driven calculating machine that would be able to compute tables of numbers.  The project was funded by the English government and was a failure.  More than a century later, however, the first computer was actually built in the world. In 1890, Herman Hollerith designed ...
