Cohen and Manafort....Flip time!

Michael Cohen turned himself in to the Feds and Manafort is awaiting a long jury deliberation on 18 counts against him (and still has another trial after the current one).

First let me say that what really disgusts me is that had Trump not been elected President of the United States, people like Cohen and Manafort would have never been investigated or convicted of the crimes they committed.  I think one of the big problems we have in this nation is a failure to convict people guilty of white collar crimes (but that's a story for another blog).

Having said that, we have two individuals who know a lot about Trump, likely know where many bodies are buried, and who are both looking at major prison time for the things they have done.  Cohen has gotten out in front of it all and turned himself in.  He likely has a lot of incriminating information on Trump.

Manafort is facing the rest of his life in prison between the two court cases he is facing, and being human, the pressure of that fact becoming ever so clear to Manafort may just push him into flipping on Trump.  He has been steadfast thus far, claiming innocence, but the overwhelming evidence against him does not bode well for his future freedom.

Many have said that the deliberations going into their 4th day is a great sign that he will be found innocent.  I have to disagree with that outlook.  The jury is having a hard time coming to a consensus on one or two of the 18 counts against Manafort.  What does that mean?  That means that they have come to a consensus on the other 16 or 17 counts.  We are likely to see a major conviction come out of this case, and likely the other case that will happen after this one is complete.

If you have been paying attention, you will have noted that Trump and Giuliani have been working overtime on their lies, diversions, and mistruths campaign to the American Public. Giuliani's interview on Meet the Press this last Sunday was a complete disaster.  Trump's Twitter Feed is filled with nothing but lies and mud slinging on a very consistent basis, and the amount of lies these two men tell on a regular basis is almost uncountable at this point.  We have a President averaging at least 7-8 lies per day, and that is somehow just OK.

Why all the lies and deception?  Trump is scared to death at how close these investigations are coming to him.  He sees his former fixer and campaign guru both on the verge of flipping, and he knows how much less than positive information they have on him.

The walls are closing in on Trump and he is trying to circle the wagons right now.  I have a feeling that the end result of everything going on right now will likely make Watergate look like child's play when it all comes out into the open.  Mark my words; heads will continue to roll for the foreseeable future in Washington.

Trump and the DOJ Trying to Silence Mueller...

Mueller is set to sit in front of Congress on Wednesday this week and answer questions regarding the Mueller Investigation.  The DOJ, and organization that is supposed to look out for the best interests of America but has recently decided to become Trump's personal Law Firm, has sent correspondence to Mueller about what he can and cannot answer. For instance, you have the question of the 10 documented cases of obstruction in volume 2 of the report.  Mueller made it clear that he was bound by DOJ policy and could not indict a sitting president.  One very important question the Congressional Leadership will likely ask is, "If Donald Trump wasn't the sitting President, would you have indicted him based on the amount of evidence in the report?"  That question in every respect is fair.  You are asking the head of an investigation if they would have indicted someone had an arbitrary roadblock not been in place.  I say arbitrary roadblock because the policy is...

Let's talk about kids

So here we are, waiting patiently and watching what the government is doing to reunite children with their parents who have been separated at the border.  The government said all it would take was a few key strokes and they could immediately identify which children were where and get them reunited.  Interesting comment considering that we are now past the court mandated timeframe within which the government was mandated by the court to reunite the 102 children under the age of 5 with their parents.  They had a month to do it, and only managed to reunite around 54 children by the deadline.  They have resorted to taking DNA samples from children and parents to try to match them up in a database because the process they used to separate these children from their parents didn't take into consideration the reunification process, so in most cases they have no idea which children match up to which parents. Instead of the President taking a more compassionate approach to...

Technology, the Double Edged Sword

Technology is an amazing thing isn't it?  Look at the evolution of the computer.  Below I am providing a history of the evolution of the computer.  It is not all-inclusive, but does document some very important moments in history starting in 1801 and ending in 2017.  If you aren't a huge reader, you can jump past the history lesson to the remainder of my blog below, but it is very interesting and I recommend you read through it.  In France in 1801, Joseph Marie Jacquard invented a loom that used punched wooden cards to automatically weave fabric designs.  Early computers would use similar punch cards. In 1822, an English Mathematician named Charles Babbage conceived of a steam-driven calculating machine that would be able to compute tables of numbers.  The project was funded by the English government and was a failure.  More than a century later, however, the first computer was actually built in the world. In 1890, Herman Hollerith designed ...
