My Thoughts on the White House Correspondents Dinner 2018

Michelle Wolf; she is someone who has worked more in a behind the scenes capacity on late night television than in any sort of primary role on shows.  She is a comedian who is beginning to come to the forefront and who has her own Netflix show coming out at the end of May, 2018.  She has done an HBO special as well.  She isn't the typical household name, but is recognizable to most people who are at least in some manner connected to the world around them; if not recognized by name, most recognize her when they see her.    I am going to start this Blog by saying, "What exactly did everyone expect this speech to be?"  I mean, we look historically at the Comedians who have given speeches at the White House Correspondents Dinner in the past, and most of them drove the dagger deep throughout their speeches.  What we have seen in the aftermath of Michelle's speech is a mixed bag of support and denigration of her character.  Michelle is a c...

Polar Opposites; Separation in American Politics

One of the first things I want to talk about in my Blog, simply because it is so important in today's America, is the polarization of our nation that has become increasingly worse over the past decade.  I want to share some of my own insights on the subject and ask that others weigh in and let me know their thoughts.  If we look at the political spectrum right now in America, politicians seem to be increasingly headed toward the fringes of the political left and right on most all issues concerning our great country.  That is concerning for many reasons.  In environments like this, living at the fringes leads to extreme viewpoints that are often not in the best interest of the vast majority of the citizens of this great nation, or in the best interest of the current and future stability of America.  Living at the fringes also leads to citizens taking on viewpoints that are extreme.  If we look at the media in America, it seems to foster an envi...

An Introduction to Stephen Dunkel's Life

Hello, I am someone who has travelled through life gathering information and forming opinions on issues ranging from religion to politics, birth to death and the afterlife, and everything in between.  I love the written and spoken word, and love even more to have conversations with people about difficult subjects that seem to polarize Americans in today's world.  People have opinions on every subject.  Some opinions are formed because of a specific type of media a person watches, because of tragic life experiences, because of where a person is raised regionally, or even because of the family and friends a person is surrounded with in life.  There are so many different reasons opinions and beliefs are formed, and through discussion, I would like to dig into those opinions and beliefs with people and have meaningful discussions about subjects that are vitally important to all of us.  Discussions lead to solutions, and collectively as a nation, we need to start...
